Motto: "When you begin to devote yourself to photography, you have the impression that good photography is simply good photography. Then, when you gain a lot of experience, it occurs to you that photography is far from being simply photography. And then when you have learnt everything there is to know you realise that photography is, after all, just photography."
I hope that some day I will also reach that point……
I work with international photo-banks 123RF, ALAMY, BIGSTOCK, CAN STOCK PHOTO, CRESTOCK, DEPOSIT PHOTOS, GRAPHIC LEFTOVERS, SHUTTERSTOCK, FOTOLIA, DREAMSTIME, iSTOCKPHOTO, PIXMAC, STOCKXPERT, STOCKFRESH, VEER, ALLPHOTO IMAGES a FOTOBANKA CZ. Through these photo-banks my shots have been sold, for example, to Brazil, Mexico, Spain and elsewhere. They have also featured in books and various magazines and have been used for advertising.
Some of my photographs have been printed in photographic magazines (PhotoLife, PhotoArt, FotoVideo) and I occasionally take part in various photographic competitions.

Cold Morning
The photograph won 1st prize in PHOTOlife magazine in 2006 in the Wildlife category.
Early one frosty morning, with a temperature of minus five, I crept over the ice to a place where cormorants were sitting. I waited maybe half an hour before one of them settled in the place which I had predicted. I hoped that the rising sun would light up the river and the cormorant would look in the right direction…..A beautiful morning.

"To introduce colour artistically into a wildlife photograph is by no means easy. We find the same colour in the two golden reflections on the frozen surface of the river as in the bird’s beak. This highly attractive element stands out especially thanks to the simple colours of the photograph. A clear shot, the composition is perfectly managed and the depth of focus spot on.”
On The Road
The photograph won 1st prize in PHOTOlife magazine in 2004 in the Still life category.
This photograph was taken in northern Spain in 2003, in the town of Beria, on the beach, by a large prison. What’s special about it is that, depending on your point of view, the footprint sometimes stands out from the sand and sometimes sinks into it.

"Yes, it’s fabulous, so easy, simple and yet it speaks volumes. Perfect technical execution. The timing of the shot was spot on – the sinking sun made the footprint strangely tangible. Flawless composition – the vertical thirds, the golden point and the provocative receding diagonal line which raises questions… Quo vadis, traveller? Symbolism… crossing lines, borders, past events…”
Gaia Mesiah
The photograph won 1st prize in PHOTOlife magazine in 2005 in the Photojournalism category.
This shot was taken at the "Řev Řevnic" (Revnice Roar) music festival in Řevnice near Prague. I tried to take a photograph of the girls in the Gaia Mesiah band, but they were moving so wildly on stage that I couldn’t capture them at all. After a few attempts I gave up and concentrated exclusively on the singer’s expression.

"The loss of focus resulting from the movement makes for an effective, lively shot. The anonymous face nonetheless remains a face – the length of exposure is spot on. Harmonious colours and light, to which the girl is apparently turning her face. It’s difficult to speak about the shot because its impact comes from within. We were unanimous in awarding it first place. That says something in itself...”
Demonstration
The photograph won 1st prize in PHOTOlife magazine in 2004 in the Photojournalism category.
I went to Wenceslas Square to take photographs of a planned Palestinian demonstration against Israel. There was a surprisingly large number of children there. All the way through I had the uncomfortable feeling that they were simply being used to increase the overall impact of the event. I focused on capturing these moments.

"A splendid piece of photojournalism, conveying a compelling message about the child’s soul and its abuse by adults. The little girl obviously hasn’t the faintest idea what it’s all about, not even that it’s a demonstration against someone or other. It is slightly reminiscent of the degrading welcome ceremonies for Soviet delegations under totalitarianism. I think the author has presented a splendid picture of the moment and that he awakes within us precisely those emotions which he wanted the photograph to communicate. The adults hands portray the situation all too well as they visibly hold the girl’s in the correct ‘protest’ position…”

The photograph won 1st prize in Canon CZ’s photographic competition in 2005 and 3rd prize in PHOTOlife magazine in the same year in the Sport category.
When I'm 64...
The photograph won 1st prize in CANON CZ’s 2007 competition and 1st prize in PHOTOlife magazine in 2004 in the Family and Friends category.
I captured this special moment in Naama Bay resort, Egpyt. I happened to be cycling. I was quite far off and had to change my lens for a longer one. This took a little time and I could only manage two shots. Then the pair separated and went off in different directions.

"A beautifully captured moment… harmony... mutual assistance. It breathes the humanity and sincerity of a long term relationship. In spite of their obvious old age the people seem young and fresh. The composition is faultless. By locating the figures on the right side the author avoids cliché. He compresses the space in the direction in which they are looking a little provocatively, as if to say these people have no need to look outside their own world. Another tribute to black and white photography – what would colour add here?”

Surfer
The photograph was published in PhotoArt magazine in 2006.
All the photos were taken in Portugal, on Guincho beach, reportedly the best beach in Europe for surfers. The photographic conditions there are very favourable. The location of the beach means that the best time sets in in the afternoon. Even though the waves break quite a long way from the shore, you can still get within a decent distance of the surfer, because the sea is shallow. A telephoto lens is however a necessity and sequential shooting also because the surfers ride the crest of the wave for no longer than a few seconds.
