I knew that in England there are a lot of bird reserves. I also knew that bird watching is one of the English ´national sports´. But when my landlady mentioned the possibility to visit a birds reserve on Walney Island, I didn´t expect it to be such an amazing experience that I would return there again in a couple of days.
On Walney Island there is a huge breeding place for thousands of migratory birds. During the year you can see about 200 different species there, after paying a funny entrance fee of 2,- Euros. You will get a map with the recommended routes and a bamboo stick for keeping the intrusive birds at a safe distance. If afraid of birds, you can take a plastic helmet. I also put on, just to be sure, an old plastic raincoat, which proved to be a wise decision.

This can also be the motto of the exhibition called ´Another Place´ on a vast beach near the town of Crosby in England.A popular English artist Anthony Gormley installed there dozens of metal statues (supposedly his self-portraits), probably as a symbol of the transience of human life. The statues are called Iron Man and they are firmly fixed in the sand. They are scattered irregularly on the beach, watching the sea.

On the way to a punk festival in Slané I stopped near the village of Pchery, where I intended to take a few photographs of some new wind turbines. An orange band began to rise on the horizon and for a moment it looked as if the sun was coming back. After a couple of minutes the sky was suffused with colour and the light returned for a few moments.  I managed to take about twenty shots. Then the colours began to fade and the show slowly shifted to the other side of the Earth.
